Cultural Imperialism in the Media.. seeking opinions

Hi all,

I am new on this site but it caught my attention as I am doing research on topics on culture, specifically on the theory of Cultural Imperialism in the media. The arguement here is that the Western, more powerful, nations use media to impose their culture, on indiginous and developing societies in the world. thereby changing cultures of others.

I would like to get different perspectives on the above topic from peoples from other countries, both developed and developing. If you have anything to contribute, I would really appreciate it. Your comments would help me better understand the issues involved, and the different contexts from which others stand.

I myself am a Bachelor in Communications student from Papua New Guinea, a developing country in the South Pacific. I hope to have a good discussion on the topic..
