TheEdge was founded in 1997 by William Hart as the first InterculturalRelations.com project. TheEdge is an online academic journal which focuses on the study of intercultural interaction. TheEdge strives to be innovative and interdisciplinary in nature.
TheEdge was on hiatus, but now with the launch of InterculturalU.com, we are considering bringing the journal back. Are you interested in reading or submitting to possible future issues of TheEdge? Let us know your thoughts on the future of TheEdge by voting on The Edge polls and by posting comments in the forums.

WHY "THE EDGE"?
We call our journal "TheEdge" for three reasons:
- TheEdge covers the interactions of cultures - the "edges" between cultures at the interpersonal level or at the societal level.
- TheEdge promotes the interaction of disciplines (anthropology, psychology, communication, literature, etc.) which address intercultural interaction. The journal is an interdisciplinary journal. Many disciplines can and do contribute to our understanding of intercultural relations. TheEdge seeks to bring these many disciplines into conversation with each other along the edges of the disciplines where they conceptually overlap. (See What is Intercultural Relations?)
- TheEdge is also hopefully "on the edge" innovatively speaking. Both in terms of technology and content we strive to push the edge beyond current boundaries.
